The Morgan Childs Soul Jazz Revue is a collection of some of Toronto’s finest musicians, dedicated to playing the music of 1960s and 70s soul jazz pioneers like George Benson, Lou Donaldson, Quincy Jones, Lonnie Smith, and Grant Green. Mixing elements of funk and soul music with jazz virtuosity and a gritty, tough edge, the sound of soul jazz became the source of many classic samples from the Golden Age of hip hop and breakbeat music.
